High Quality Surface Finish is Another Major Advantage

Zinc die casting is an incredible manufacturing process that can produce aesthetically pleasing products. Its versatility and capability are undeniable, making it an excellent choice for countless decorative and functional applications.

Most zinc die-cast products aren’t exposed to corrosive environments, and the finish that should be used largely depends on the part’s aesthetic requirements, which may not even require any finishing at all. However, in aggressive service environments or when aesthetics dictate, there are various conversion coatings, organic paint, and superb electroplated metal finishes available, such as nickel, satin, and bright chrome.

The quality of the substrate greatly affects the finish of the product. Even cheap bulk vibratory finishing can improve the “as-cast” surface, and smooth finishes can be achieved by light buffing or chemical polishing. The high fluidity of zinc alloys also allows manufacturers to add a precisely defined surface texture to the entire product or specific parts of it. As a result, zinc castings can mimic the look of solid gold, weathered brass, stainless steel, and even leather. In addition, external features, such as lettering and logos, can be cast directly into the product.
